Expert Evaluation

The term ‘Expert Evaluation’ describes a process in which an external evaluator is brought on board to test a system, website or application based on the rules of usability. This assessment doesn’t involve external users, and is conducted by one skilled and trusted evaluator.

The process is efficient and cost-effective. It is performed remotely, is usually completed in just a few days, and helps provide valuable insights that improve the overall user experience of a product.

What’s included?

The evaluation outlines an overview of the site, system or application’s components and processes, and targets key usability issues. This overview covers: consistency, feedback, cognitive load, error management and prevention, ease of use and more.

At the end of the process, you’ll receive a report listing the product’s strengths and weaknesses, diagnosed according to level of severity. Also included is an explanation of the problems detected, complete with recommended solutions.

When should you use it?

Simply put: when the data is telling you that there is a problem with the current state of your product. In this situation, an expert evaluation can shed light on what to change and how to change it in order to achieve your desired results.

In most cases, an expert evaluation is appropriate for an existing website, system or application. It can also be performed at an earlier stage to identify issues that could arise during the design process.

I’ve conducted expert evaluations for both simple websites and complex products. Sound like I can help you too? It would be my pleasure. Get in touch and we’ll start talking.
